Lumineers® are a brand of porcelain veneers and although similar, they do have their differences. The primary difference is in the way in which they are placed and the changes that are made to the original tooth in the process. Unlike traditional veneers, Lumineers® are a reversible process. Since Lumineers® are a variant of porcelain veneers they serve the same function and provide many of the same benefits.
Lumineers® are made up of an ultra-thin, durable shell that is about as thin as a contact lens, which allows them to easily bond to the front of teeth. The minimally invasive technique used for placement allows the veneers to be bonded to your teeth without any drilling, shots, or temporaries. Placement of Lumineers® is quick, convenient, and does not require the teeth to be shaved down significantly like that of traditional veneers. This allows you to keep your tooth’s enamel, providing a strong foundation of tooth protection.
ARE LUMINEERS® THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR ME?
Many people may find Lumineers® to be an optimal solution for attaining the beautiful, natural looking smile they have always wanted. Lumineers® are a great option whether you are trying to fix a single tooth imperfection or achieve the perfect smile.
Like traditional porcelain veneers, Lumineers® are used to aid in resolving issues such as:
- Stained or discolored teeth
- Chipped teeth
- Unwanted spacing or gaps
- Crooked teeth
- Reshaping teeth
It’s important to note that Lumineers® have certain limitations that you should keep in mind when making a decision. They are not as customizable as traditional veneers and they may not always cover certain underlying imperfections due to their highly translucent nature.
