Dental Uses of Oral Conscious Sedation
- Posted on: Feb 28 2014
Sedation dentistry is beneficial for patients who have:
- Past traumatic dental experiences
- Fear of the dentist and dental treatments
- Overwhelming anxiety at dental appointments
Oral conscious sedation means you will take a pill that allows you to become deeply relaxed but still awake and fully conscious. This type of sedation is not necessarily for one type of dental treatment or another, but is instead used when patients are unable to get the dental care they need because of fear, anxiety, discomfort and other factors.
The only way to know for sure whether this type of dentistry is right for you is to talk with one of our experienced sedation dentists in a consultation. Our dentists are trained in providing sedation and are members of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS). Our dentists are uniquely trained and educated to help you determine whether sedation is a good option for you. We want to help you get the dental care you need, and if sedation will help you do so, we can discuss options such as oral conscious sedation.
If you want to know if you are a candidate for sedation dentistry and you live in McLean, Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Tysons Corner or the surrounding areas, please contact Galleria Dental Aesthetics to schedule a consultation with one of our experienced dentists.
