What is Invisalign Teen?
- Posted on: Dec 18 2012
Invisalign Teen® is just like standard Invisalign, but with a few design features to accommodate the orthodontic needs of teenagers. Features of Invisalign for teens include:
Replacement aligners. If your teenager misplaces or breaks an aligner, there are as many as six free replacements.
Blue-dot wear indicators. This feature helps you make sure your teenager is wearing the aligner for the full 22 hours a day. The blue dot fades when it’s time to switch to the next aligner, so you can help your teen stay on schedule.
Eruption accommodation. Because many teens have permanent teeth just beginning to erupt from the gums, Invisalign Teen aligners can be designed to accommodate the space needed for these erupting teeth, making more teenagers good candidates for Invisalign.
Eruption tabs. When a molar erupts from the gums and does not have a tooth opposite its position, the unopposed tooth can over-erupt and come out too far. Invisalign Teen has eruption tabs to push against any newly erupted molars and prevent over-eruption.
In addition to these features, Invisalign for teens lets your teenager wear clear aligners and avoid metal wires and brackets.
