Dental implants offer the strongest and most secure hold for artificial teeth and are considered the best option for many of our patients. However, traditional, or root form, implants may not be right for everyone. If you lack sufficient jawbone to support a root form implant, an alternative type such as plate form or subperiosteal implants may be used. If you are not a candidate for any type of dental implant, or if you are simply not interested in the dental implant procedure, one of our experienced dentists will be happy to discuss alternatives for tooth replacement.
Alternatives to Dental Implants
The most common alternative to dental implants is a dental bridge. A dental bridge will be secured into your mouth by placing brackets on adjacent teeth. These teeth serve to hold the bridge into place, restoring both function and beauty to your smile.
Dentures are also a common alternative to dental implants. Dentures can be secured with adhesives or with a bridge, depending on your unique needs. While neither dentures nor bridges can provide the same benefits of dental implants they can help restore speaking and chewing ability and provide you with a strong and beautiful smile.
During your initial consultation with one of our cosmetic dentists, it can be determined which tooth replacement option will best meet your needs.
