If you are considering dental implant surgery to replace missing teeth, you may be concerned about pain. Although any dental implant procedure is likely to be accompanied by some pain and discomfort – particularly during the first days after the procedure – just about all of our patients are happy they elected the surgery.
Of course, pain and discomfort varies for each patient. You may not feel as uncomfortable after the procedure as someone else. There are other factors influencing how you will feel, such as:
- Whether bone grafting was performed
- The specific surgical approach
- Whether the gums have become infected and inflamed after the procedure
Right after the dental implant is placed, it is normal to experience discomfort as the anesthetic wears off. If you feel as though the pain is worsening over the next few days, you should call our office. Our dentists will give you the support and help you need to have a successful recovery.
If you live in Tysons Corner, Alexandria, McLean, Fairfax, Arlington or the surrounding areas and are interested in dental implants, please contact Galleria Dental Aesthetics to schedule a consultation with one of our experienced implant dentists.
